Extremely disappointing. Positive: Apartment is in a great location (literally just behind the Liver Building an Albert Dock) and was nice and clean and comfortable. It looks massive on the photos but is actualy quite small, however it is perfectly functional. Two large sofas in the main room open ito sofa beds and were quite comfortable. Well-equipped kitchen and good shower / bathroom facilities. Negative: Although the apartment itself was lovely, the lock on the door would not work properly. There was only 1 key and you could only remove it from the door if the apartment was locked. This meant if you were outside the apartment, you couldn't get in unless the door was locked, so either the door was open but the lock bolt was out so you couldn't close the door, or you were locked out. Same if you were inside, either the door had to be locked on the inside - which meant that you would not have been able to escape if there was a fire or any other incident - which is a SERIOUS breach of H&S legislation, or the door had to be left open with the lock bolt out. The apartment was also on the 3rd floor, so if there had been a fire (or other incident) ww would most likley have been toast. The problem with the lock completely ruined our evening. We had been at a funeral, so had already had a shitty day, but there was supposed to be a reunion with friends from the funeral that night, which is why we had stayed over. As it was three guests (1 adult and 2 kids) ended up staying in the apartment while one went out to the event, so we might as well have gone home to Derbyshire and not bothered staying over at all. If there had been another key, it would not have been as bad (Jez tried to find one for us - which was a lot of faffing and time-wasting for us) but none could be found. And that does not alter the fact that the apartment was unsafe due to this issue.
